Vandals and thieves targeted the cemetery located on Bliesheimer Straße, Weilerswist, Germany, causing damage and stealing property between 8 AM on August 16 (Saturday) and 8 AM on August 18 (Monday).

In the peaceful town of Weilerswist, a disturbing incident has taken place. Between the early hours of Saturday, August 16 and Monday, August 18, unknown individuals carried out a series of vandalism and thefts at the cemetery on Bliesheimer Straße.

The Criminal Police have launched an investigation into the matter. The perpetrators have not been identified or apprehended as of yet. The entrance gate to the cemetery was broken to gain entry, and several graves were desecrated during the incident.

A wooden fence section was pulled out from the ground, and a metal cross was taken from its anchorage on a grave. Two grave figures were also stolen. The total property damage amounts to a low four-digit figure in euros.

Two wheelbarrows in the entrance area were damaged, and their securing chains were cut. The vandalism extended to the theft of two specific grave figures, adding to the sorrow and dismay felt by the community.

The authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward. The desecration of a cemetery is a grave violation of respect and peace, and it is crucial that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
