Vehicle Careens Down Hillside
In Borken-Kleinenglis, a traffic accident occurred on Monday afternoon that resulted in two injuries and significant property damage. The incident took place on Straße "Hinter den Gärten".
According to reports, a 61-year-old man was driving an Audi when he collided with a car in front, driven by a 21-year-old woman. The impact caused the man's car to overturn and come to a stop on its side. The Audi and the trailer involved in the accident were written off due to the extent of the damage.
The man apparently lost control of his car due to a medical emergency, causing him to veer off the road. His car rolled down a slope, destroying trees, bushes, and sliding into a parked trailer. The exact cause of the collision is yet to be confirmed.
Both the man and the woman were injured in the accident. The 61-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to the hospital in Kassel for treatment. The 21-year-old woman sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital in Fritzlar.
First responders and a total of 30 firefighters from Borken and surrounding areas provided immediate assistance at the scene. Their quick response helped to manage the situation efficiently. The firefighters took care of fire protection and securing the damaged vehicles. Fortunately, no one was trapped in the damaged vehicles.
The accident resulted in significant property damage, primarily to the two vehicles involved. The total property damage is estimated at around 17,000 euros.
This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the potential consequences of medical emergencies while driving. Our thoughts are with the injured individuals and their families during this challenging time.
