The A1 highway near Osnabrück in the direction of Bremen has been closed for hours due to a tragic incident involving a wine truck that caught fire. According to a police spokesperson, the property damage resulting from the accident is significant.
The incident occurred just before the Osnabrück-Hafen exit, where the truck, driven by a 36-year-old driver, veered off the road and collided with a concrete barrier. The truck, which was being transported by the company "Spedition Althoff," was reportedly carrying wine.
Following the collision, the truck caught fire, causing further complications in managing the situation. The truck driver sustained minor injuries but was able to provide a breathalyzer test. The test showed a result of over 1.3 per mil, suggesting potential impairment on the part of the driver.
