Veronika Fischer, renowned figure from the GDR, announces cancellation of all upcoming concerts and bids farewell.
Veronika Fischer, a renowned German singer-songwriter, has announced the cancellation of all her upcoming concerts, including the one scheduled for Friday, September 5, at the Neubrandenburg concert church. The decision was made due to health reasons, as Fischer has caught a cold and her voice is showing signs of weakness.
Fischer, who founded her own formation, Veronika Fischer & Band, in 1974, gained great popularity with hits like "Auf der Wiese" and "Dass ich eine Schneeflocke wär" and several successful albums. Her career took off in the BRD after the fall of the wall, but even before that, she began her journey with bands like Stern-Combo Meißen and Panta Rhei.
The tour, which includes concerts in Bautzen, Freiberg, Dresden, Berlin, Potsdam, and Aue, has also been canceled without replacement. Tickets for these shows can be refunded at the points of purchase, but as of now, there is no indication of a make-up date for the canceled concerts.
The 80s band Camouflage's concert at the Neubrandenburg HKB, also scheduled for Friday evening, has already been cancelled. Details about the refund of tickets for the Neubrandenburg concert will be announced latest by Wednesday.
Fischer has expressed her gratitude towards her fans for their loyalty over the years and for numerous wonderful moments during her stage career. She has also made it clear that her farewell is likely to be final.
In 2018, there were last new works by Veronika Fischer to hear and read with the CD "Woher wohin" and her autobiographically titled biography. Fischer turned her back on the GDR in 1981 and moved to the BRD.
The cancellation of the Neubrandenburg concert was announced last year at short notice. The Neubrandenburg event center (VZNB) confirmed the current cancellation of the Neubrandenburg concert on their website.
Fischer does not want to do a playback and intends to sing live for her fans. Despite the unfortunate circumstances, her fans can still look back on a long and successful career filled with memorable songs and performances.
