Victims of Epstein undergo a private session with Mace, who experiences a severe panic attack
On Tuesday, as Congress returned from its August recess, two representatives took a significant step towards transparency in the Jeffrey Epstein case. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) filed a discharge petition, which, if successful, would mandate the Justice Department to release all the Epstein documents, potentially leading to a floor vote.
Meanwhile, no new information was provided about the ongoing investigation into the accusations made by Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) against her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant and three other men. In February, Rep. Mace had accused them of raping her and another woman and recording the encounters.
The day was also marked by a closed-door hearing of the House and Government Reform Committee. However, no new photos were released showing Rep. Mace's appearance after the hearing. Photos taken on Tuesday did show Rep. Mace leaving the meeting with a red face and a quivering lip, suggesting an emotional encounter.
Rep. Mace, who identifies as a survivor of rape, confirmed on social media that the testimony caused her severe emotional distress. She wrote, "I had a difficult time listening to the testimonies, describing symptoms such as sweating, hyperventilating, shaking, and difficulty breathing." Rep. Mace also expressed empathy with the struggles of all victims, stating, "I feel the immense pain of how hard all victims are fighting for themselves because we know absolutely no one will fight for us."
In a show of support for all survivors, Rep. Mace wrote, "GOD BLESS ALL SURVIVORS." No charges have been filed against any of the men accused by Rep. Mace.
In addition to the Epstein case, the committee is pushing for the Justice Department to release more documents and information regarding its investigation into Jeffrey Epstein. Over 30,000 pages from the Justice Department's investigation into Epstein were released by the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday.
However, no new details were given about Rep. Mace's emotional distress during the hearing, nor about the ongoing investigation into Jeffrey Epstein's death. The investigation into Epstein's death remains ongoing, with no new information provided.
Jeffrey Epstein, a financier, killed himself while awaiting trial in 2019. His case has been the subject of numerous investigations and public interest due to the numerous allegations of sexual abuse against him.
The discharge petition filed by Rep. Massie and Rep. Khanna aims to bring more transparency to the Epstein case and potentially reveal more information about his activities and the actions of those involved. The petition, if successful, could lead to a floor vote on the matter, bringing the issue to the forefront of Congress's attention.
