In an unusual incident that unfolded near Chelsea FC's Stamford Bridge stadium, a 16-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of imitation firearms. The incident, which occurred at around 2:30pm on Saturday, took place as tens of thousands of supporters were leaving the stadium.

The suspect, who was dressed in black tactical clothing and wearing a ballistic helmet, was carrying imitation firearms. According to reports, the boy was later referred to the youth offending team for an appropriate out-of-court disposal, following his admission of the offence.

Commander Adam Slonecki, speaking about the incident, stated that carrying imitation weapons in crowded places is "irresponsible". He further warned that wandering around in public with such items can be dangerous for both the public and the officers. Commander Slonecki emphasized the importance of such activities taking place in organized environments.

The unarmed officers who spotted the suspect acted spontaneously and with bravery, tackling him to the ground to secure the firearms. Their actions were commended for prioritizing public safety over their own.

It was later revealed that the imitation firearms were brightly colored when first bought but were later sprayed black. The boy, during his police interview, explained that he was in costume for a nearby comic convention. However, no credible information could be found about the boy being arrested at the Premier League football match at Stamford Bridge for this specific reason.

The incident occurred near Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, causing a brief disturbance in the area. Despite the initial concern, the situation was quickly brought under control, and normal activities resumed.

Commander Slonecki reiterated the importance of the public's vigilance and cooperation in such matters. He urged anyone who witnesses suspicious activities to immediately report them to the authorities. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
