Vietnam secured an early victory in the U23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers.

In the AFC U23 Asian Cup 2026 Qualifiers, held on September 3 in Phu Tho Province, Vietnam took a decisive 2-0 victory over Bangladesh. This win marks an early lead for Vietnam in Group C.

The match saw impressive performances from several players, with striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan being commended by coach Kim Sang-sik for his impressive comeback from injury. Nhan, who plays for Le, scored the opening goal for Vietnam with a precise finish in the first half.

Le Viktor, another standout player for Vietnam, had several attempts on goal throughout the match. His efforts were finally rewarded in the 83rd minute when he sealed the victory for Vietnam with a header from close range.

The first overseas player from Vietnam's websiteese to score for the U23 national team in an Asian tournament was Le, who achieved this feat in the same match.

Coach Kim was pleased with the result but emphasized the need for improvement ahead of the next round of fixtures. He advised Nguyen Xuan Bach to improve his passing accuracy and movement on the pitch. Kim also expressed hope for Nguyen Thanh Nhan to perform even better in the next two matches.

Bangladesh came close to equalizing in the 35th minute with a powerful strike from Shekh Morsalin, but Vietnam's keeper, Tran Trung Kien, made a strong save to prevent the equalizer.

Hasan Al Mamun, the assistant coach of Bangladesh, acknowledged Vietnam's superiority in the match. He stated that Bangladesh lost because Vietnam are the strongest team in the group. Hasan also emphasized that Bangladesh will learn from the defeat to prepare better for the next game.

Meanwhile, Singapore is targeting their first win against Vietnam on August 6, and Bangladesh needs to defeat Yemen to revive their hopes. In the earlier game, Radhi Ebrahim and Abdulaziz Awadh scored for Yemen in the first half, while Louka Tan-Vaissiere scored for Singapore in the 80th minute.

Kim Sang-sik, the South Korean coach of Vietnam, praised the performance of midfielder Le. His commendation of Le's performance underscores his importance to the team's success.

This victory puts Vietnam in a strong position for the rest of the qualifiers, and fans will be eagerly anticipating their next matches.
