Virtual Parent-Teacher Meeting for Grades 1 and 2 Discussing 'Secure School Journeys'

On Monday, August 25th, at 6 pm, the Cologne Police and Rhein-Kreis Neuss Police are hosting an online parents' evening titled "Little Feet - Safe Steps on the School Route." This event, to be held at the digital consultation and prevention center of the NRW Police, is free and open to all parents of children in grades 1 and 2.

The focus of the evening will be on teaching children how to safely navigate to and from school. Parents will learn about their children's perceptions of road traffic, the dangers and challenges on the daily school route, and the role of the "parent taxi." The event will also discuss strategies for protecting children from being approached by strangers.

Police Chief Commissioner Guido Spinnen and Police Chief Commissioner Daniela Luppus will moderate the evening, fostering open and honest conversations with parents about road safety. Questions about school route safety can be sent to [email protected] at any time. Questions will also be answered via livestream during the event.

Daniela Luppus, a chief police commissioner and the head of traffic accident prevention at the police station in Cologne, emphasizes the importance of educating parents and children in safe behavior for road safety. She states, "This event is an opportunity for parents to learn valuable information and strategies to keep their children safe while commuting to and from school."

Participation in the online event can be done directly via the link: https://ourwebsite/events/little-feet-safe-steps-on-the-school-route No prior registration is required for the event, which is expected to last approximately 45-60 minutes.
