Vogue marks its 40th anniversary with Breuninger's celebration

On the 6th of September, the German edition of Vogue will celebrate its 40th anniversary, and the festivities will take place at the iconic Königsallee in Düsseldorf. This special event is being organised by Breuninger, the owner of the Königsallee, Art-Invest, and Vogue, inviting all fashion enthusiasts to join in the celebrations.

Before World War II, Berlin was the fashion capital of Germany. However, after the war, 80% of Berlin's fashion businesses were destroyed, and most of the former fashion production was located in the Soviet occupation zone. As a result, fashion production moved west to Krefeld and the Ruhr region, and sales shifted to Düsseldorf.

The city of Düsseldorf has a rich fashion history, with the IGEDO, the world's first fashion trade fair, first held in Düsseldorf in 1949. The Königsallee, in particular, has symbolised high fashion in the city since the 1950s, hosting a massive street fashion show attended by 17,000 enthusiastic spectators.

Andreas Rebbelmund, Managing Director of Breuninger Düsseldorf, expresses honour to host the 40th anniversary celebration of Vogue. The program for the event includes talks with the Vogue editorial team, fashion shows, vehicle presentations, and many other highlights. Breuninger will offer fashion and brand presentations, blogger actions, goodies, shopping events, and extended opening hours for its customers.

There will also be attractive prize draws, pre-launches, beauty treatments, sneaker cleanings, and a Prosecco reception for customers at the store. The official sponsor will present vehicles during the event. Christiane Arp, Editor-in-Chief of the German Vogue, invites everyone to celebrate this significant milestone with them.

In addition to the Vogue anniversary celebration, Breuninger and the Königsallee are also celebrating their 6th anniversary in Düsseldorf. The celebration of these anniversaries highlights Düsseldorf's continued importance as a symbol of high fashion in Germany, symbolising the economic miracle and the introduction of high fashion to German women in the 1950s. The Königsallee continues to strive to maintain its former glory as a symbol of high fashion in Düsseldorf.
