Volkshochschule unveils its programme for the year 2025-2026
Volkshochschule Gütersloh Kicks Off 2025/26 Program with Diverse Offerings
The Adult Education Center of Gütersloh is set to begin its 2025/26 program year with a wide array of educational offerings, addressing topics ranging from society and sustainability to digitalization and languages.
At the forefront of this year's program is the highly topical discussion of Russian Germans, with Ira Peter's book "German Enough? - Why We Finally Need to Talk About Russian Germans" set to address the issue.
Coexistence in diversity is a key focus area, particularly in the field of human and society. The center aims to promote understanding and inclusivity through low-threshold digital participation formats, such as those provided within the Smart City project "Digital Test City." This initiative is particularly beneficial for seniors and people with disabilities.
Health and personal development are other significant areas of focus. The project "Gütersloh Clarifies - Expanding Health Literacy," funded by the Innovation Fund of the state of NRW, offers over 70 free events on resilience, movement, relaxation, nutrition, and personality development.
New offerings in the areas of law and finance, as well as housing, are also included in the program. On September 24, 2025, the prominent author Sara Buschmann will present her work "The Book You Should Have Read Before Becoming a Single Parent" in a book premiere.
The language program covers 21 languages, with English having the largest number of courses. The new "Turbo English B1" for apprentices is among the latest additions.
In addition to language courses, lectures and workshops provide practical suggestions for a more environmentally conscious daily life. Topics include sustainable travel, upcycling, vegan nutrition, and e-mobility.
Successful city tours in Ukrainian and Easy-to-Read language are also on the agenda for the future.
The career and digital section addresses current developments in the world of work, including practical offers on artificial intelligence, content marketing, and career reorientation.
Cultural education offerings are not to be overlooked. The Adult Education Center of Gütersloh collaborates with societies such as the German-French Society and the German-Polish Society of Gütersloh, enriching the program with cultural and linguistic focuses. Events around Thomas Mann's 150th birthday and workshops on acrylic painting, paper cutting, and drone photography are just a few examples.
Sabine Frank will provide a discussion basis for the topic of street lighting shutdown with a lecture on the value of darkness. Erika Engelbrecht will report on the roots of fair trade worldwide and 30 years of fair trade in Gütersloh.
The 2025/26 annual program of the Volkshochschule Gütersloh is now available in printed form and online at www.vhs-gt.de, and registrations are now possible. Around 300 courses are available, with special offers for people with disabilities, focusing on resilience, movement, relaxation, nutrition, and personality development.
