Volkswagen Plans to Pour up to €1 Billion into Artificial Intelligence Development
Volkswagen, in a significant stride towards its AI strategy, has partnered with French software specialist Dassault Systèmes to build an AI-supported development environment. This collaboration, announced at the IAA Mobility trade fair in Munich, forms part of the company's budget planning up to 2030.
Hauke Stars, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of the Volkswagen Group, made the announcements during the fair. The investment, expected to pay off by 2035, is aimed at making the company more efficient and cost-effective, with potential efficiency gains and cost savings of up to four billion euros.
The AI-supported development environment will be used across all group brands and regions, with the aim of improving the overall quality of the vehicles produced by Volkswagen. The group's goal is to shorten the product development process to 36 months or less, accelerating the vehicle development process.
Virtual tests and simulations are expected to play a crucial role in this faster development, supporting engineers in vehicle development. This development environment will also be integral to AI-supported vehicle development, industrial applications, and IT systems.
The collaboration aims to develop attractive and innovative vehicles faster for customers, with the ultimate goal of getting them onto the roads as soon as possible. AI is seen as a means to achieve greater speed, quality, and competitiveness across the entire value chain.
In line with this strategy, Volkswagen Group plans to invest up to one billion euros in Artificial Intelligence. The use of AI is intended to be integrated into every process within the company, with the aim of improving efficiency and competitiveness.
This partnership with Dassault Systèmes is part of Volkswagen's broader AI strategy, which seeks to leverage AI to achieve greater speed, quality, and competitiveness, ultimately benefiting customers and the company alike.
