Volvo's Polestar unveils the initial markets for the Polestar 1, omitting the United Kingdom from the list.
The electric vehicle landscape is expanding, and one of the latest additions is the Polestar 1. This 600bhp plug-in Volvo S90 Coupe is set to make its mark in the world, with production kicking off at a new plant in China in mid-2019.
The Polestar 1 will initially be available in 18 world markets, including the USA, China, Germany, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Austria. While the UK will not be part of the initial launch markets, potential buyers can expect to see the Polestar 1 in the UK at a high price point in the future.
The vehicle will be available in right-hand drive (RHD) versions, and Polestar has announced plans to open a number of 'Polestar Space' outlets in these countries, including the US and the UK, in mid-2019.
In addition to the Polestar 1, the company is also hinting at future developments. The Polestar Precept, teased recently, may offer a glimpse into the electric Polestar 3, based on a Volvo SUV. While no specific date for the reveal of the Polestar Precept has been announced, it's clear that it may indicate future design direction.
Meanwhile, the Polestar 2, revealed earlier this year, has already made its debut. Potential buyers of the Polestar 1, however, will have to subscribe to an all-inclusive monthly payment plan, or may have the option to buy the vehicle for approximately £135k.
The Polestar 1 is more than just a high-performance electric vehicle. With a 592bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain and a 100-mile electric range, it's a stunning example of what the future of motoring could look like.
As Polestar moves into the mainstream of electric car makers, it's an exciting time for those who love high-performance electric vehicles. With the Polestar 1, the company is demonstrating its commitment to pushing the boundaries of what's possible in electric vehicle design and performance.
Further expansions in nearby European countries such as Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, Romania, and the Czech Republic are noted for similar brands, but are not explicitly confirmed for the Polestar 1 in the first phase. Polestar has also hinted at plans to roll out further 'Polestar Space' outlets in more countries in the future.
One thing is certain: the Polestar 1 is set to make a big impact in the electric vehicle market, and it's only the beginning for this innovative brand.
