In a significant move towards preserving biodiversity and protecting rare wildlife, VTB Bank has announced its continued partnership with Russia's largest nature reserves and the Nature Conservation Fund. Over the past 10 years, VTB has been at the forefront of supporting specially protected natural territories, aiming to preserve the Amur leopard population and restore other endangered species.

One of the key projects undertaken by VTB involves the installation and maintenance of over 500 camera traps across Russia, as stated by the Director of the FGBS "Land of the Leopard", Viktor Bardyuk. These camera traps, installed in remote forests and mountains, will help specialists monitor wildlife and ecosystems, enhancing the research process and reflecting in scientific results.

High-mobility equipment for the scientific department of the Land of the Leopard National Park has also been funded by VTB, ensuring that the installation and maintenance of these camera traps can be carried out efficiently. Additionally, VTB has funded the purchase of computer and telecommunications equipment for scientific research and monitoring of the transboundary Amur leopard population in Russia and China.

VTB's efforts extend beyond the Amur leopard population. The bank is also involved in projects aimed at cleaning up oil spills on the Black Sea coast, though details about this project remain undisclosed. Furthermore, VTB supports anti-poaching and educational initiatives in Kamchatka, but specific details about these initiatives were not provided.

Natalia Kochneva, Senior Vice President of VTB, commented on the importance of a strong technical base for any research centre. She stated that the bank's partnerships aim to provide this base, enabling scientific research to be carried out effectively.

In addition to the grant program for young ecologists, VTB has created a support system for specially protected natural territories. This system includes funding for the purchase of high-quality equipment, which will enhance the research process and contribute to the restoration of the Amur leopard population.

The announcement about this funding was made during the EEFC-2025 (16+) by VTB, emphasizing the bank's commitment to environmental conservation and wildlife protection. With VTB's support, Russia's nature reserves are better equipped to tackle challenges, strengthen scientific monitoring, and preserve biodiversity for future generations.
