Walmart Kicks Off Holiday Shopping Season with Enhanced Services and Competitive Deals

Walmart is gearing up for the holiday shopping season with an expanded set of shopping features and services, aiming to attract customers with a combination of competitive pricing and convenience.

According to recent surveys, more than three-quarters of consumers plan to buy goods from Walmart this holiday season, indicating a strong preference for the retail giant. The majority of holiday shoppers are still attracted to physical stores, where Walmart has an advantage.

Walmart has been focusing on its e-commerce arm, having ramped it up with the Jet acquisition. However, the company is not forgetting the importance of brick-and-mortar stores. During the 2021 holiday season, Walmart offered enhanced curbside pickup, same-day delivery through its expanded partnership with DoorDash, and extended in-store holiday hours.

In addition, Walmart has launched its earliest-ever blitz of holiday deals, which start on Friday. The deals cover a wide range of categories, including electronics, gaming, toys, home, and sporting goods. Shoppers can enjoy free next-day delivery as part of Walmart's holiday offers.

To make shopping more convenient, Walmart is promoting its "Check Out With Me" option, which allows customers to make purchases with free-floating employees around the store. The retailer is also offering a scannable toy catalog as part of its shopping features.

Walmart is engaging in a price war with Amazon during the holiday season. To attract customers, the company is offering discounts and exclusive holiday product bundles. Walmart is also using events, such as tie-ins around Pokémon and Star Wars movies, to lure customers into its stores.

While Amazon's fee-paying Prime Members are very loyal, with 88% planning to buy on Amazon during the holidays, Walmart is not far behind. A majority of holiday shoppers plan on making visits to physical stores, and Walmart's focus on convenience and competitive pricing could make it a popular choice this holiday season.

Moreover, Walmart has a DotCom Store where shoppers can make online purchases at the store for items not in stock. The retailer is also offering personalized gift recommendations as part of its expanded shopping features.

As the holiday shopping season approaches, Walmart is ready to compete with Amazon and other retailers. With its focus on both price and convenience, the retail giant is poised to attract a significant number of shoppers this holiday season.
