Weather Updates in Houston: Anticipated Return of Showers This Week

In the heart of Texas, a series of unfortunate incidents have been reported. Officials have confirmed two tragic deaths in a mobile home fire near Montgomery, while two individuals were stabbed by a former roommate in Houston's Red Oak Drive. A shooting victim was found dead by their girlfriend following a suspicious FaceTime call, according to police reports. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in a 3-alarm fire at a Teague Road apartment.

Meanwhile, the weather scene in Houston is showing a bit of respite, as per the GFS weather model. The model suggests lower chances of rain for Monday and Tuesday compared to other models, although scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to return on Tuesday and Wednesday. Severe weather and widespread flooding are not anticipated at this time, but some cells could drop a quick 1"+, potentially causing isolated street flooding in poor drainage areas.

Looking further out, another wave (Invest 99L) is making its way toward the Caribbean. This system has a medium chance for further development over the next week. Tropical Storm Fernand, currently moving north in the central Atlantic, is expected to avoid any U.S. landfall and be a much smaller system than previous storms. Its path is likely to be similar to that of Tropical Storm Erin.

Lastly, models suggest the next tropical depression could form in the next few days, although it is not currently showing much activity. Let's hope for the best as we keep a close eye on these developing weather systems. Stay safe, Houston.
