The upcoming weekend marks the official start of the college football season on the field, but the off-field competition is already heating up.

Two of the most popular college football pregame shows, College GameDay and Big Noon Kickoff, will face off next week at the highly-anticipated Texas-Ohio State showdown. Both shows will likely be situated close to each other, as they both aim to bring fans the best pregame analysis and excitement.

Big Noon Kickoff, which has been trying to compete with College GameDay for some time, is stepping up its game. Dave Portnoy, known for his outspoken personality, will be a regular on Big Noon Kickoff this fall.

On the other side, College GameDay has been boosting its ratings with the addition of Nick Saban and Pat McAfee. This dynamic duo brings a unique perspective to the show, attracting a wider audience.

Meanwhile, College football started on the field this weekend in Ireland, where fans gathered to watch the action. However, there are no games scheduled for ESPN this weekend, and College GameDay and Big Noon Kickoff will take a break.

Interestingly, this will be Lee Corso's final College GameDay appearance. Corso, a beloved figure in college football, announced his retirement earlier this year. He will appear on College GameDay next Saturday for his final show, where he made his last headgear pick, choosing Ohio State over Texas at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

ESPN will air "College Football Countdown" following the morning SportsCenter instead, with Rece Davis, EJ Manuel, and Roddy Jones hosting the show.

Last year, there was a College GameDay show in Dublin, and fans are hoping for a similar event this year. However, this weekend, both shows will be taking a break, saving their ammunition for the Week 1 showdown between Texas and Ohio State.

As the college football season gets underway, the off-field competition between College GameDay and Big Noon Kickoff promises to be as exciting as the games themselves. Tune in next week to see who comes out on top!
