Weekend Arrest Warrants Enforced by Federal Police in BPOL NRW
On Sunday, July 18, 2025, a significant event unfolded on the A52 motorway as the Federal Police apprehended a 46-year-old Albanian, who was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Dresden for burglary. The Albanian, who had an entry and residence ban by the Foreigners' Office in Dresden, was en route to Germany from the Netherlands.
The following day, on July 19, 2025, a 25-year-old Romanian was checked at the train station in Gronau. The Romanian was wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Osnabrück for indecent exposure. After the necessary police measures, the Romanian was taken to the prison in Münster to serve his sentence.
In another incident, on Friday evening, July 16, 2025, a 49-year-old Czech, wanted by the Public Prosecutor's Office in Cottbus for smuggling foreigners, entered Germany on the A61 motorway as a passenger in a replacement bus service. The Czech had two grams of hashish with him. Upon completion of the police measures, he was taken to the prison in Willich to serve his sentence, as he was unable to pay the fine of 8900 euros.
These arrests and checks were carried out by the Federal Police Directorate, headquartered in Sankt Augustin, Germany. It is important to note that the Federal Police temporarily reintroduced border controls at all land-based Schengen internal borders on September 16, 2024, at the instruction of the Federal Minister of the Interior and Homeland.
The events occurred in the areas of Kleve, Emmerich, Gronau, and Niederkrüchten. The head of the Federal Police Directorate Sankt Augustin in 2025 was Barbara Heuser, who took over the position following the retirement of Udo Peltzer in August 2025.
On a separate note, a 46-year-old Albanian, who still had a remaining prison sentence of 404 days to serve, was arrested by the Federal Police on July 18, 2025. After completion of police measures, the Albanian traveler was taken to the Federal Police Station in Kempen and then to the prison in Willich to serve the remainder of his sentence.
