West experiencing intense thunderstorms and heavy downpours
Germany is bracing for a change in its weather pattern over the coming days, with a compact cloud cover bringing shower-like rain to the west and gradually moving towards the centre of the country.
On Wednesday, the western regions can expect localized thunderstorms, with temperatures reaching 17 degrees south of the Danube and 24 degrees at the Neiße. Relatively dry conditions will persist in the west and northwest, while the south and eastern parts of the country will experience partly to heavily cloudy skies, with heavy rain in some areas.
Thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected in the southwest and west until Tuesday morning. Along the Elbe, individual thunderstorms with heavy rain are predicted in the afternoon and evening on Tuesday.
In contrast, the east of Germany will initially experience dry and warm late summer weather, with highs of up to 26 degrees and plenty of sunshine, thanks to high "Nina". However, this weather situation is expected to change gradually.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), there is a high risk of heavy rain, especially along and west of the Rhine, with local thunderstorms expected overnight into Tuesday. In the west and afternoon/evening, strong thunderstorms with heavy rain are possible.
From Tuesday to Wednesday, many clouds will move from the west to the centre and south, with shower-like or thunderstorms moving slowly northeast.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the weather is expected to be hot and sunny, followed by unsettled and cooler weather. It's advisable to keep a close eye on the forecast for any updates.
