West London borough denies license for new casino featuring slot machines

West London's Brent District Planning Committee rejects proposal by Silvertime Amusements Limited, intending to convert a previous bookmaker's location into a slot machine casino.

West London borough denies license for new casino featuring slot machines

In bloody bleedin' Harlesden High Street, Harlesden, Greater London, the planning blokes at Brent Bloody Borough once again kicked Silvertime Amusements Limited's plan to turn an old bookie's into a slot machine blasted barn on its noggin.

This ain't the first time the blokes at Silvertime tried to pull this stunt in their neighborhood—their past attempts have been flatly denied due to gorram 'slot shops overload'. The area's residents, numbering around 17,000, already call it the 'Las Vegas of London' as it's flooded with six adult gaming centers from places like Ladbrokes, William Hill, and Paddy Power.

Changed Times, Same Spin

Even though the planning bods thought this latest scheme from Silvertime was a clever move—taking advantage of the recent shutdown of one of their rival pawn shops—the local committee ain't having any of it. The crew from Harrow-bloody-headquartered Silvertime planned to split the site into a sports wagering shop and a new slot machine funhouse featuring the latest and greatest machines.

Despite the planning bods recommending this latest bloody Silvertime idea, the planners rejected the proposal last Wednesday due to the same overload concerns and because a few councillors from the area organized a public bash against the plan in July.

Bad Apples and Big Fears

Patel told the planners that Park Parade is a hub of anti-social trash and the new slot machine spot just 200 yards from Silvertime's other sites will only make the problems worse.

"Adult gaming centers are just Jiving-Johnny scams that tempt people with lousy chips and multiple gambling options. It goes against Brent's plan to stop crap loads of gambling joints from cropping up," Patel said.

Shiny Promises, Shady Results

In their application, Silvertime said their desired Park Parade venture would boost the local economy and have no adverse effects on retailing or the community's vibe.

New Blood, Clean Slate

Kelcher declared that this latest rejection sends a clear message that Harlesden can have a bright future by luring independent cafes and shops rather than bloody gambling dens that prey on society's most vulnerable.

"We're stoked that the planners listened to the local community and nixed these plans that would've added more casinos to Harlesden and undermined the amazing progress our local fuzz have made in clearing up the area," Kelcher said. "We hope the landlords will now get new tenants who contribute to this vision."

  1. The rejection of Silvertime's plan to convert a bookie's into a slot machine corner in Harlesden, London, highlights the community's concern about the increasing number of casinos and gambling establishments, such as Ladbrokes, William Hill, and Paddy Power.
  2. In light of the latest rejection, Harlesden aims to attract independent cafes and shops instead of casinos, wishing to avoid a culture of gambling that may exploit society's vulnerable members.
  3. Despite Silvertime's claims that their new venture would have a positive impact on the local economy, concerns about the overload of gambling establishments and their potential negative effects on the community's ambiance led the planners to reject the proposal.
  4. As one of the densest areas for adult gaming centers in London, many residents view Harlesden as a 'Las Vegas of London,' a nickname that emphasis the prevalence of casinos and gambling trends in the area.
  5. The local council's decision to reject Silvertime's plan demonstrates their commitment to responsible gambling and the prevention of an excessive concentration of casinos and gambling-related activities in the community.
