Western Alliance Agreement for the Western Balkans
In a significant move to support the professionalization and exchange between German and WEB actors, a new funding programme has been announced. The initiative aims to empower socio-economic minorities, including the Roma community, and promote women in WEB countries.
Applications for this funding are now being accepted, with a stipulation that they should be submitted at least three months before the planned start date. Interested parties can direct their applications to [email protected] and [email protected].
The funding focuses on various areas, including the promotion of rule of law, empowering socio-economic minorities, combating anti-Gypsyism, and supporting women. Additionally, the programme provides support for anti-corruption measures, combating money laundering, and organized crime.
It's important to note that funding that is not related to conflict prevention, stabilization, and peace promotion is excluded from this initiative. On the contrary, support measures related to conflict prevention, stabilization, and peace promotion in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia are a key focus.
These support measures include promoting cross-border and civil society activities to strengthen common security and trust-building, institutional support for local and international networks focused on human security, care economy, and climate justice, exploring disarmament initiatives especially targeting illegal landmines, automatic weapons, and nuclear deterrence, empowering local women as key early warning actors, and facilitating transparent access to institutions and services.
Funding can be provided in the aforementioned countries, and whenever possible, own and/or third-party funds should be involved in funding the projects. The maximum funding period for projects is three years.
This initiative is a significant step towards fostering a more secure and equitable future for the WEB countries, and interested parties are encouraged to apply. For more information, please visit the official website or contact the provided email addresses.
