Windshield on I-85 in Jackson County shatters due to a crowbar impact, leaving a woman with a facial injury
In a tragic incident that occurred on I-85 near Commerce in Jackson County, Georgia, a North Georgia woman named Tina Lee Williamson was hit by a crowbar while riding in a car. The incident, which took place around 2 p.m. on Aug. 29, has left Tina with severe injuries.
Redell Patterson, the driver of the car, initially thought Tina had been shot due to the loud noise and quick occurrence. Upon pulling over, Patterson saw that the crowbar had hit the hood of the car, gone through the windshield, and hit Tina's face. The crowbar broke her face in many places, causing her nose to be broken on both sides, her palate to move, and nine of her teeth to be knocked out. Both of Tina's cheeks are also broken.
The crowbar came from a work truck, but no company name or logo was visible. Police and EMS responded to the incident and rushed Tina first to a hospital in Athens, then to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she is currently preparing for her first reconstructive surgery, scheduled for Thursday morning.
A fundraiser has been set up online to help Tina's family during this difficult time. The truck from which the skewer fell belongs to a company or person that has not been publicly disclosed. The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the incident to determine the source of the crowbar.
Tina's bone behind her ear is also broken, adding to the extensive nature of her injuries. The incident has left the community shaken, and many are offering their support and prayers for Tina's recovery. Redell Patterson, Tina's friend and the driver of the car, remains focused on Tina's recovery and is hoping for a successful surgery and a speedy healing process for Tina.
