Windsurfing event's conclusion at Heiligenhafen, Germany during California Windsurf Cup's final season
The coastal town of Heiligenhafen, Germany, is gearing up for an exhilarating windsurfing event from September 4th to 7th, 2025. The California Windsurf Cup Heiligenhafen 2025, the national premier series in windsurfing, will see the German Windsurfing Association (GWA) hosting a joint championship for young windsurfers in the disciplines of Fin Slalom, Foiling, and Overall.
The event promises to be a spectacle, with a star-studded lineup of athletes from around the globe. Multiple German, European, and World Champion Vincent Langer (GER-1, Duotone) leads the annual ranking and will be in attendance, alongside international windsurfing stars such as Frenchman Brendan Lorho (FRA-113, S2 Maui, FMX-Racing), Lithuanian Giedrius Liutkus (LTU-11, Patrik), and Dane Noah Vinther (DEN-7777, Patrik, Starboard).
In the funboard category, Mika Henning (GER-64, Duotone) and Jesse Richter (GER-180, Sailloft, Starboard) are among the youngsters to watch. Fabi Wolf (GER-404, Starboard, Severne), a member of the German Sailing Association's perspective squad, is also expected to make waves.
For the Foiling discipline, Meno Büchler (GER-91, Starboard, Severne) could make a splash, and the event will feature an iQFOiL scoring for the first time, contributing to the Olympic class ranking list.
The participant field per discipline is limited to a maximum of forty starters, making spots scarce. Athletes from the Olympic iQFOiL class are explicitly invited to participate. The windsurfing elite will compete for important ranking points for the California Windsurf Cup in Heiligenhafen.
LVM Insurance is the main sponsor of the event, offering a total prize money of 4,000 euros for races and young talents. The LVM Youngster Trophy annual award ceremony will take place in Heiligenhafen, awarding a total of 2,000 euros in prize money for the top 3 Youngster U21.
The event in Heiligenhafen includes the GWA Youth & Junior Championship, attracting many young talents. The finale of the California Windsurf Cup will culminate on Sunday with the award ceremony at 18:00, crowning the new GWA Youth and Junior Champions and the overall winners of the California Windsurf Cup Heiligenhafen 2025.
In addition to the intense competition, the event will also offer a variety of leisure activities. The "Party au Mer" will feature music and celebration events on the Dragon's Meadow, including DJ ZIG-ZAG, DJ Varberg, and the live band VALLEY. Two free yoga sessions per day are offered, supported by LVM Insurance, with yoga mats provided.
