John Wasnock's Remarkable Run at the WSOP Main Event

John Wasnock, a 50-year-old investment consultant from North Bend, Washington, has made a splash in the poker world with his impressive performance at the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.

Before this year's tournament, Wasnock's career earnings were approximately $143,000 in live tournament cashes, primarily from lower buy-in events. However, his fortunes changed drastically with his wins in $560 and $600 buy-in tournaments earlier in 2025, and his largest pre-WSOP cash of $56,330 from the $560 No Limit Hold'em event at the 2025 Spring Poker Round Up in Pendleton, Oregon.

Wasnock's journey at the WSOP Main Event began with a chip count of 201,400 at the end of Day 1c. By the end of Day 2abc, his chip count had grown to 373,000. After four gruelling days of competition, he found himself with 683,000 chips. By the end of Day 5, Wasnock had amassed 1,600,000 chips, and his chip count soared to 9,500,000 by the end of Day 7.

Wasnock's incredible run continued as he ended Day 8 as the only player above the 100 million mark, with a staggering 108,100,000 chips. This performance earned him the chip lead for the final table of the WSOP Main Event, a tough field that includes poker heavyweights like Michael Mizrachi, Leo Margets, Adam Hendrix, and Kenny Hallaert.

Wasnock's family and friends will be attending the final table, and poker enthusiasts can catch the live coverage on PokerOrg on Tuesday afternoon. The final nine players will return to action at 1:30pm Vegas time, and the livestream will be available on PokerGO.

Wasnock's victory will add at least $1,000,000 to his previous career earnings, making him a force to be reckoned with in the poker world. His success story serves as an inspiration for amateur players in North Bend, Washington, where finding great action in poker tournaments can be challenging.
