Women affiliated with BHC will commence their activities in Berlin
In an exciting turn of events, the first season game for Tolic and Bundesliga powerhouse BHC will take place in the vibrant city of Berlin. The opposing team, known for their strong defense, will be led by defenders Lucy Gundel and Angela Cappellaro, who have proven their mettle in previous matches.
Despite conceding 36 goals in a previous game, the opposing team poses a significant threat, particularly from the wings. Fast wing players Anais Gouveia and Alissa Werle are expected to make life challenging for the Berlin defense.
The Berlin squad, on the other hand, has many new faces in the backcourt this season. To bolster their defense, BHC has recruited Saskia Wagner from 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Naomi Conze from Werder Bremen.
Veki Tolic, a former player of the Berlin team, will be participating in the first season game for BHC. Tolic, who wore the fox jersey until 2024, has expressed her excitement for the season opener and the competition after a long and strenuous preparation.
The matchup between the two teams will be repeated this weekend, but this time it will be the men's teams taking the field. Tolic believes both teams are strong, and the outcome of the game will depend on which team is in better form on the day.
Unfortunately, Madita Probst, a left wing player, will not be participating in the game due to a muscle fiber tear. The new Berlin squad is characterized by its speed and pressure on the defense.
Kerstin Reckenthaeler, the coach of BHC, is no stranger to competitive matches. Despite their first-half struggles in their previous cup game, Reckenthaeler was satisfied with the defense, which only conceded nine goals in the second half. This bodes well for the upcoming game, as BHC looks to rebound from their loss against HC Rodental.
The encounter between the teams last season ended in a draw at the Heinrich-Horn Memorial Tournament. Reckenthaeler's team lost their first cup game this season, losing 20:27 against Frisch Auf! Göppingen, a first division team.
Tolic, in expressing her appreciation for Berlin, a beautiful city, and her return to the Sommering Hall, added that she is looking forward to the challenge and the opportunity to compete against some of the best teams in the Bundesliga. The upcoming game promises to be an exciting spectacle, with both teams eager to make their mark in the new season.
