Women sustain injuries in traffic collision
On Thursday, September 4th, a rear-end collision occurred on Liburer Weg, near the Uckendorf exit in Niederkassel. According to the Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters, the incident involved a Mercedes and a Toyota Auris.
Both drivers, aged 33 and 34, were slightly injured and were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance. The drivers, who were women, were identified as a 33-year-old intending to turn left onto a property and signaling and slowing down, and a 34-year-old who collided with the stationary Mercedes due to failing to notice that the first driver had to stop because of oncoming traffic.
The total damage from the collision is estimated to be around 35,000 euros. Both cars were severely damaged and had to be towed away. The Rhein-Sieg District Police Headquarters is responsible for the investigation, which includes conducting an investigation at the scene of the accident and interviewing witnesses.
In a separate incident, the driver of the Toyota will be charged with negligent bodily harm in a traffic accident. Interestingly, the person charged with negligent bodily injury in a previous severe bus accident on March 27, 2024, on the A9 near Schkeuditzer Kreuz, is also a bus driver, a 62-year-old Czech man. The public prosecutor's office filed charges against him at the Eilenburg district court in June 2025.
