Women's Competition at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race 2025
The cycling world celebrated a new champion at the 2025 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, with Ally Wollaston (FDJ-Suez) securing her first one-day WorldTour victory. The race, held in Geelong after a two-year COVID-19 pandemic hiatus, marked the opening event of the Women's WorldTour in 2025.
The course of the race sent riders along the coast first before looping back inland to the Geelong circuit, which includes the Challambra climb. The 2025 race followed the original format, running clockwise from the start/finish line on the waterfront in Geelong.
The race, held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, saw a reduced bunch sprint at the finish line, with Wollaston crossing the line ahead of Karlijn Swinkels (UAE Team ADQ) and Noemi Rüegg (EF Education-Oatly), who finished second and third respectively.
The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, first held in 2015, has been a significant event in the Women's WorldTour calendar since the Deakin University Elite Women's Road Race was added to the calendar in 2020. The race preceded the Santos Tour Down Under in South Australia.
In 2024, Rosita Reijnhout (Visma-Lease a Bike) claimed victory at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. The mid-week criterium of the Geelong Classic also made a return in 2024, with Sofia Bertizzolo taking the win.
For Wollaston, this victory marks a significant milestone in her career, as she claimed her first one-day WorldTour victory at the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race. Cyclingnews provided comprehensive coverage of the event, including race reports, results, photo galleries, news, and race analysis.
