Harmanpreet Kaur has been appointed as the captain of the Indian women's cricket team for the upcoming Women's ODI World Cup 2025. Kaur will be joined by her deputy, Smriti Mandhana, as they lead the team in the global tournament.

The 15-member squad, announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), includes some of the country's most promising talents. Pratika Rawal, who averages an impressive 54.07 from 14 matches since her debut, will open for India in the World Cup.

Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh are also part of the top six, bringing their dynamic batting skills to the team. In the spin bowling department, Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, and Radha Yadav have been selected as all-rounders.

Kranti Goud, who impressed with a match-winning performance in the ODI series against England, has earned a spot in the squad. However, Shafali Verma, who was the second-highest scorer in India's T20I series against England, has been left out of the ODI squad for the World Cup.

Renuka Singh, whose scores in the Australia A series and unofficial T20s did not impress the selectors, has returned to the ODI squad. Renuka has been declared fit and ready for the World Cup after a long injury layoff due to a stress fracture.

Arundhati Reddy, Amanjot Kaur, Sree Charani, Yastika Bhatia (wk), and Sneh Rana have also been included in the squad. Radha Yadav, who recently captained India A to a series win in the unofficial women's ODIs against Australia A, brings valuable experience to the team.

The 2025 Women's ODI World Cup is scheduled to start from September 30, but the location has not been specified yet. The tournament promises to be an exciting event, with India aiming to reclaim the trophy they won in 2017.
