Women's self-confidence enhancement training commences in September

In the city of Lünen, women aged 18 and above who reside in the area are invited to participate in a ten-session self-assertion and self-defense course. This initiative, launched in cooperation with the Crime Prevention division of the Dortmund Police Headquarters, aims to empower women and provide them with essential skills for personal safety.

The course, scheduled to begin on 22 September 2025, will take place on Mondays from 6 to 8 pm. The locations for the sessions are the Bürgerzentrum Gahmen (Kuemperheide 2) and the gymnasium of the Heinrich-Bußmann-Schule (access via Süggelstraße).

Participants will learn basic self-defense techniques, confident body language, and voice use, as well as strategies for setting boundaries. Officers from the Crime Prevention division will inform attendees about police work and when to seek help. The sessions will also include role-plays, video analyses, and practical self-defense exercises to reinforce learning.

Instructors will provide information on perpetrator behavior, crime scenes, victim-offender relationships, self-defense aids, and the right to defend oneself. Heike Tatsch, Equal Opportunities Officer in Lünen, emphasizes the importance of registration, which closes on 15 September 2025.
