Two Public Bike Self-Help Workshops Now Operating in Greifswald
Good news for cyclists in Greifswald! The city has established two public bike self-help workshops, located in the Klex youth center in the city center and the district and community center SchwalBe in the Schönwalde II district.
The workshop in SchwalBe on Maxim-Gorki-Straße was funded with 12,000 euros from municipal funds and was selected through a citizen vote at the "Day of Decision" last year. The other workshop, located in the heart of the city, operates every Wednesday from 4:00 PM at the Klex youth center. Meanwhile, the Schönwalde II workshop is open every Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at SchwalBe.
At the Schönwalde II workshop, a paid worker from the Kinderschutzbund provides assistance for bike repairs according to the principle of "help for self-help". The workshop also features a freely accessible repair station that can be used at any time, even outside of opening hours. This means that cyclists can fix their bikes whenever it's convenient for them.
