World Cup 2026 ticket prices to be determined by market demands - essential details explained
The highly anticipated 2026 FIFA World Cup is just around the corner, set to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The tournament will be a historical event as it will be the first time three countries - the USA, Canada, and Mexico - will co-host the prestigious event.
Ticket Sales
Ticket sales for the tournament have already commenced, with hospitality tickets for the eight matches at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, available since May. The ticket prices will be determined by demand using dynamic pricing.
In the coming months, tickets will be released in three phases:
- Phase One (October 1 - October 31): A Visa Presale Draw will be held for individuals with a valid Visa card and enabled 3D Secure. Tickets for group stage matches during this phase will start at $60 (£44).
- Phase Two (Date to be announced): Tickets will be made available to the general public.
- Phase Three (Date to be announced): The final phase of ticket sales will conclude the process.
Ticket Types
Three different types of tickets will be available: Single match tickets, Venue-specific tickets, and Team-specific tickets.
Pricing
Prices for the 2022 tournament in Qatar ranged from the US dollar equivalent of $69 to $1,607. For the 2026 World Cup, later stage matches, including the final, can reach up to $6,730 (£5,000). Tickets for hospitality packages range from $3,500 (£2,604) to $73,200 (£54,467) per person.
Visa Requirements
For those outside the US, Canada, or Mexico, securing a visa or travel authorization is necessary to attend the World Cup. Due to the time it takes for visas to be issued, fans are being encouraged to complete applications as soon as possible.
Fans who fail to obtain the necessary visa or travel authorization will not be entitled to any compensation.
Registration and Ticket Purchase
Individuals need to create a FIFA ID and submit an application form between September 10 and September 19. Registered individuals will be given a date and time to purchase tickets starting from October 1, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Player Visas
Players participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup will need visas issued by the host countries - the USA, Canada, and Mexico - to participate in the tournament. Therefore, the visa requirements apply specifically to these host nations for all foreign players attending the event.
Resale of Tickets
Resale prices will not be capped due to competition with unofficial resale outlets. FIFA plans to introduce an official resale platform later this year.
