European Basketball Competition Loses Participant: Weidemann Joins the Sidelined - World Cup Basketball Star Skips Crate, Weidemann Sidelined Too
In a significant blow to the German basketball team, coach Alex Mumbru has announced that two World Champions, David Kramer and Nelson Weidemann, will not be travelling to the European Championship.
The absence of Kramer, an important member of the team, was announced by the German Basketball Federation before the game against Spain in Cologne. Real Madrid has not officially named a replacement player for Kramer as per the available information. Kramer is ruled out due to a muscle injury.
Weidemann's omission from the team was also a surprise, adding to the team's challenges. Mumbru described the decision as a tough one.
The team, which won convincingly against Spain in their last game before the European Championship with a score of 95:78, will now have to compensate for the absence of both Kramer and Weidemann as best as possible.
The final decision about the team for the European Championship was announced after the game against Spain. It was expected that one of the two centers, Leon Kratzer or Oscar da Silva, would have to leave the squad, but both players are now absent.
Germany, considered one of the big title contenders for the EM alongside Serbia and France, will face Montenegro, Finland, Lithuania, Sweden, and Great Britain in the preliminary round. The final of the EM will take place in the Latvian capital, Riga.
Despite the setbacks, Mumbru remains optimistic, promising to lead the team through this challenging period. The European Championship is set to be an exciting event, and Germany will undoubtedly fight hard to secure a place among the winners.
