Wreck: Vehicle Flips in Collision - Driver Abandons Scene
A hit-and-run traffic accident took place in Westend, Germany, causing significant disruptions in the area. The incident occurred on Heerstraße, between Scholzplatz and Glockenturmstraße, and involved a collision between a Mazda and a Mercedes.
The Mercedes driver, whose identity and condition remain undisclosed, fled the scene, leaving behind three teenagers (aged 15, 17, and 18). The Mazda driver, a 63-year-old man, was present at the scene.
The Mercedes overturned and landed on its roof, and a machete was found inside the overturned vehicle. The officers seized the weapon. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene after the investigation.
The three teenagers were left behind in the overturned Mercedes and were taken to hospitals for treatment. The extent of their injuries, as well as those of the Mazda driver, is not publicly known. All occupants were transported to hospitals for treatment.
The responsible authority investigating the traffic accident is the local police department, with a specialized traffic crime unit from Police Directorate 2 (West) handling the case. The investigation into the accident is ongoing, and the cause of the Mercedes driver's decision to flee the scene is currently unknown.
The main lane of Heerstraße between Scholzplatz and Glockenturmstraße was closed until about 8 AM due to the accident. The community is urged to avoid the area and expect traffic disruptions.
