Writings from Vikram Bhatt, following the passing of his mother Varsha Bhatt: 'She now resides in a more serene, peaceful haven'
In a heartfelt post on his Instagram handle, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt expressed his grief over the passing of his mother, Varsha Bhatt, who passed away on September 6, 2025, at the age of 74.
Varsha Bhatt was not only a renowned cinematographer's wife—Pravin Bhatt—but also the mother of Vikram Bhatt, known for hits like Ghulam, Raaz, 1920, and Haunted - 3D. The mother of two had been in pain for the last few months before her death due to a prolonged illness and multiple organ failure.
Bhatt wrote a heartbreaking note, expressing his deep sorrow and thanking everyone who stood beside him during this tough time. He mentioned that grief is cyclic in nature and will take him some time to come to terms with his mother's loss.
Bhatt prayed for his mother's soul, quoting the Sanskrit verse, "त्वमेव माता च पिता त्वमेव, त्वमेव बन्धुश्च सखा त्वमेव। त्वमेव विद्या द्रविणं त्वमेव, त्वमेव सर्वं मम देव देव॥" (You are my mother, you are my father; you are my relative and friend; you are my knowledge, my wealth; you are everything to me, my god, my god.)
Vardhaan Puri, a fellow filmmaker, commented "Loads of love and respect" on Bhatt's post, while Avika Gor added "Deepest condolences Om Shanti" to the same post.
Bhatt began his film industry career by assisting director Mukul Anand, and his mother's passing marks the end of an era for the Bhatt family. Our thoughts and prayers are with Vikram Bhatt during this difficult time.
