Yakutsk finds itself on the periphery once more.

In a recent study conducted by the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the city of Grozny has been crowned as the leader in terms of quality of life in Russia for the first quarter of 2024.

The comprehensive study evaluated various criteria to determine the quality of life in Russia's cities. These criteria included material well-being, housing affordability, medical care quality, environmental conditions, water and air quality, waste management, road infrastructure, business conditions, and more.

Moscow, Sochi, Kaluga, St. Petersburg, Vladimir, Novorossiysk, Yekaterinburg, Sevastopol, and Tula followed Grozny in the rankings, while the study did not provide specific details about the cities that need more efforts to improve living standards outside the top 10 city rankings.

Housing and utilities, road infrastructure, and business conditions were identified as significant factors in the study. Road infrastructure was assessed based on factors such as road surface quality, traffic police work, public transport, accident and traffic jam probability. Business conditions were evaluated considering complaints about supervisory and control bodies, procurement, and illegal inspections.

However, the study also highlighted negative factors affecting the quality of life in Russia, such as destructive behaviors like domestic violence, alcoholism, and crime. Cities like Arkhangelsk, Vladivostok, Volgograd, Irkutsk, Krasnoyarsk, Omsk, Orel, Saratov, Khabarovsk, Chelyabinsk, Chita, and Yakutsk were identified as requiring efforts to improve living standards.

Interestingly, Yakutsk, the capital of the republic, has maintained its position in the ranking of quality of life in Russia, receiving a similar assessment in 2022 and the first half of 2023.

City beautification was another criterion included in the study on quality of life in Russia, although further details about this aspect were not provided in the study.

The study did not provide a link for more details, but it serves as a valuable resource for understanding the current state of quality of life in Russia's cities and identifying areas that need improvement.
