In the ongoing Middle Eastern conflict, tensions have risen significantly between Israel and the Houthi militia, officially known as Ansar Allah ("Supporters of God"). The Houthi militia has shown solidarity with the Islamic Hamas in Gaza by repeatedly attacking Israel with rockets and drones.

In response, Israel's military has targeted sites in Yemen, including a recent airstrike that is believed to have targeted a high-ranking Hamas official in Gaza City. The identity of the target remains unclear. The death of the Houthi president, Mohammad Ali Al-Houthi, in a separate airstrike in Yanaa, along with several Houthi ministers, is considered a symbolic and psychological blow to the Houthis.

However, the Houthi government in Sanaa is not internationally recognized, and Al-Houthi had little actual authority. The killed Houthi president is not the first symbolic blow for the Iran-backed militia. Reports suggest that Mossad agents were involved in Israel's major attack on Iran this year, resulting in the deaths of leading military figures and nuclear scientists, and the destruction of nuclear facilities.

Meanwhile, the Houthi militia has controlled the north of Yemen for nearly a decade. Israel's military has also successfully targeted and killed the top leaders of Hezbollah and Hamas in various locations. In 2024, Israel's foreign intelligence agency, Mossad, remotely detonated thousands of devices belonging to members of the Iran-backed Lebanese militia Hezbollah, killing around 40 people and injuring over 3,000.

Back in Israel, thousands of people protested in Tel Aviv, demanding a swift end to the Gaza war and the release of hostages from Hamas's grip. The Forum of Hostages' Families called for another protest today, accusing the Netanjahu government of prioritizing an endless war over the hostages.

The security cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanjahu, is set to reconvene today, but a proposal for a ceasefire approved by Hamas will not be on the agenda. The identities of Israeli agents who conducted attacks on Hamas and Hezbollah leadership in recent years are generally not officially disclosed, but covert operations involving Mossad agents have included figures like "Alex" and "Kevin," who recruited and managed operatives such as Roozbeh Vadi in Iran for targeted assassinations and intelligence activities.

As the conflict continues, both sides remain resolute in their stance, with no clear resolution in sight. The international community continues to watch closely, hoping for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict.
