Young celebrities set the stage ablaze on Danube Island tonight
The Danube Island Festival, Europe's largest free outdoor festival, is set to return from June 20 to 22, 2025, in Vienna, Austria. For 42 years, this event has been a beacon for emerging artists, providing a platform for experimentation, growth, and exposure to a wide audience.
This year's motto, "Your Island. Real Moments", encapsulates the festival's commitment to fostering authentic experiences and empowering local talent. Last year, the festival attracted over 1,000 acts, and this year promises to be no different.
The Danube Island Festival offers visitors a high-quality music, action, and fun program at the beginning of summer. Notable among the events are the Rock The Island Contest and RTIC4Kids, both of which are supported by the drugstore retailer BIPA.
Rock The Island Contest and RTIC4Kids create space for young musicians to be heard, gain stage experience, and take their first steps into the Austrian music scene. Over 320 acts applied for this year's Rock The Island Contest, with Portrait of Tao, Lia Nell, Fraulein Peter, One Last Glance, Zweimann, Julia Steen, and The Schenkies emerging as the winners. Each winner will receive a fee of 1,500 euros.
Culture Councilor Veronica Kaup-Hasler emphasizes that Rock The Island Contest is more than a competition - it's a stage for diversity, passion, and new musical voices. Barbara Novak, DIF organizer and Vienna SPÖ party secretary, further emphasizes the festival's commitment to social cohesion, affordable and modern Vienna, and respectful interaction among each other.
The Danube Island Festival stands as a mirror of the cultural vibrancy of the city, promoting solidarity, diversity, and equal opportunities. Over 150 acts have taken this path through Rock The Island Contest and RTIC4Kids, demonstrating the importance and effectiveness of such platforms for local talents.
The second edition of RTIC4Kids was also held, showcasing red-white-red music newcomers. The Danube Island Festival, in its 42nd edition, continues to be Europe's largest open-air festival with free admission, making it an accessible and inclusive event for all.
So, mark your calendars for June 20 to 22, 2025, and join the Danube Island Festival for a summer filled with real moments and your island's vibrant energy.
