Young citizens of Romania now have the opportunity to participate in a four-month military training program, as outlined in a new draft law.
In a recent development, Romania is planning to enact the Defense Law and the Law on Preparing the Population for Defense. According to defense minister Ionuț Moșteanu, these draft laws aim to prepare the population for crises and strengthen the Romanian Army.
The mobilisation exercise, which has been happening for years, will take place in several counties, including Sibiu, Mureș, Bucharest, and Ilfov in September, and October. The coordination of these future rounds is managed by the Bundesamt für Bevölkerungsschutz und Katastrophenhilfe (BBK).
Young people between the ages of 18 and 35 will have the opportunity to participate voluntarily for a period of four months, if the draft laws are approved. During this training period, volunteers will receive a monthly payment of RON 2,000-3,000 (approximately EUR 400-600).
Contrary to some claims, these exercises are not preparations for war. Instead, they serve to evaluate the volunteers and help the Romanian Army to better understand the location of the operational reserve and the territorial commissariat where they must report if needed.
Ionuț Moșteanu, in an interview for Euronews Romania, confirmed that the volunteers can be women. He also stated that some volunteers may choose to stay in the army and could be recruited as permanent cadres.
The exercises take place periodically and are considered normal procedures in any army, in any country. The source of the photo is Ionuț Moșteanu's Facebook page. After the four months, volunteers will be able to enter the operational reserve of the Romanian Army.
It is important to note that no one is being called to the army, and the army is not taking anyone by force into the military. Instead, this is a voluntary opportunity for young people to contribute to the strength and preparedness of the Romanian Army.
These mobilisation exercises are a testament to Romania's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of its citizens, and they serve as a reminder of the importance of being prepared for potential crises.
