The Industry and Commerce Chamber (IHK) Offenbach is taking a proactive approach to combat the growing skills shortage in the region by strengthening the dual training system and offering young people a career perspective in local companies.

One of the key initiatives in this effort is the "Night of Apprenticeship," an event designed to provide comprehensive career orientation for young people. The next edition of this event is scheduled for February 21, 2025, in Offenbach, with training companies still able to register with the IHK Offenbach am Main until November 15, 2024.

The "Night of Apprenticeship" offers young people an opportunity to pave the way for internships or directly into dual vocational training. The event provides a platform for students to experience various training professions such as building sealant, office management clerk, and logistics specialist.

In a previous edition of the event, which took place in Rödermark on November 8, 2024, eight companies and institutions participated, including the host company adicon® Gesellschaft für Bauwerksabdichtungen mbH. The event, organized by the city of Rödermark and the IHK Offenbach, was successful in its premier and second editions, serving as a strong signal for the future of vocational training in the region.

Alexander Krebs, advisor for career orientation and educational projects at the IHK Offenbach, stated that the event bridges the gap between schools and businesses to attract young people for the start of dual training. Mayor Jörg Rotter expressed his satisfaction with the success of the "Night of Apprenticeship" events and emphasized the importance of the long-standing cooperation between the city of Rödermark and local companies in making the transition into working life easier for students.

Thomas Haberstroh, managing director of adicon®, emphasized the significance of the event for companies to present themselves to local youth and bring apprenticeship prospects closer. The opening ceremony was led by IHK Vice President Michael Grunwald, Mayor Jörg Rotter, and the managing directors of adicon®, Thomas and Peter Haberstroh. The event took place at the premises of adicon®.

As industries continue to grapple with the skills shortage, events like the "Night of Apprenticeship" are crucial in attracting and preparing the next generation of workers. The IHK Offenbach is committed to continuing its efforts to promote the dual training system and provide young people with the opportunity to embark on rewarding careers in local companies.
