Young relative of the English cricketer scores a decisive century against the Bangladesh Under-19 team
Isaac Mohammed, the nephew of former England all-rounder Moeen Ali, has been making waves in the world of cricket with his impressive performances for England's youth teams.
In his Youth ODI debut during England's series against India in June-July, Mohammed showcased his talent, but it was against Bangladesh Under-19 where he truly shone. In the 2nd Youth ODI, Mohammed scored a century, his highest score in Youth ODIs, as England leveled the series 1-1 with three matches remaining.
Mohammed's century came after Bangladesh posted a challenging total of 272-9 in their innings. Rifat Beg and Rizan Hossain scored half-centuries for Bangladesh, but it was not enough to deter Mohammed.
England openers Joseph Moores and Mohammed started off strongly, scoring 68 runs together before Moores was dismissed. Despite losing wickets, Mohammed continued his aggressive approach, hitting six fours and nine sixes on his way to a rapid 104 runs from 95 balls. Ben Mayes and JA Nelson provided valuable support with 30 and 35 not out respectively, helping England win the match by 4 wickets.
Mohammed's impressive form has also been evident in the T20 format. In his T20 debut, he scored 32 off 15 balls, helping Worcestershire successfully chase a target of 156 against Durham. His innings in the series opener against Bangladesh was his best in the T20 format so far, scoring 75 from 53 balls.
In the 2025 T20 Blast, Mohammed has played eight matches for Worcestershire, contributing significantly to their victories. In a match against Essex, he scored a knock of 63, helping Worcestershire post a match-winning total of 340-9.
