Could it be that children were the ones responsible for igniting the extensive blaze at the local concrete manufacturing facility? - Youngsters allegedly ignited a substantial blaze at a concrete manufacturing facility.

A significant fire broke out at a concrete plant in Schmölln, district of Altenburger Land, on Sunday afternoon. According to reports from the control center in Gera, the blaze was extinguished after over ten hours.

The fire department operations leader, Mirko Kolz, confirmed that no one was injured during the fire. However, two children, aged nine and ten, were found by the police in the area of the fire. They were reported to have sooty faces and breathing difficulties and were taken to the hospital for examination. Further details about the children found on the scene have not been provided.

Initial investigations by the criminal police suggest a link between the children and the fire at the concrete plant. The exact circumstances of the fire are still unknown, and further investigation is needed to clarify the situation.

The fire spread to two storage halls at the plant, burning an area of 2,500 square meters. Among the items in the storage halls were bulldozers and forklifts. Due to the intensity of the fire, the roofs of the storage halls collapsed.

At its peak, there were 90 emergency services personnel on site. The extent of the damage caused by the fire is still unknown at this time. The children who are presumably responsible for the fire have not been specifically identified by description; it is only indicated that children are considered responsible for the fire.

MDR reported seeing a smoke column kilometers away from the concrete plant. Among the items in the storage halls were bulldozers and forklifts. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with storing such equipment in enclosed spaces.

As the investigation continues, the community hopes for a swift resolution and assurance that such an incident will not occur again in the future. Updates on the situation will be provided as more information becomes available.
