In a recent study, it has been revealed that refueling is a significant source of concern for millions of drivers, particularly those from the younger generation. This research, focusing on Generation Z, encompasses individuals born in the late 1990s and early 2010s.

According to Cazoo expert Harry Waring, the apprehension surrounding refueling is a genuine concern for a considerable number of drivers. This statement was made in an interview with "The Independent."

The research shows that around half of young drivers deliberately drive their tanks very low, indicating a reluctance to engage in the process. Furthermore, two-thirds of Gen Z seek assistance from partners, parents, or friends to refuel their vehicles, which could be a sign of anxiety or discomfort.

The concern about refueling is not solely due to rising fuel prices. It also stems from issues related to confidence, social pressure, and the fear of public mistakes. In fact, 62% of Gen Z reported feeling uncomfortable with refueling, compared to 39% of all respondents.

Interestingly, the proportion of 17-20 year-olds with a full driver's license has halved compared to the late 1980s. This could potentially be linked to the increased anxiety surrounding refueling.

A quarter of young drivers have run out of fuel, which underscores the severity of the issue. However, there are no search results providing specific data on the number of adults from Generation Z who have someone else refuel their vehicle to avoid anxiety when refueling.

This research sheds light on a growing concern among young drivers and highlights the need for increased awareness and education about refueling to boost confidence and reduce anxiety.
