Youth-led politics marks two decades with ECPYouth: Examining the legacy of young leaders
In the heart of Bucharest, Romania, the European Christian Political Youth (ECPYouth) celebrated its 20th anniversary with a three-day training camp. Over 30 young leaders and policy enthusiasts from 18 different countries attended the event, marking a significant milestone for the organisation.
ECPYouth, the youth wing of the European Christian Political Movement (ECPM), brought together top academics and politicians, including Philip Powel, Dr. Teuta Vodo, Klariska ten Napel, Dr. Noemi Mena Montes, and ECPYouth President Valeriia Petrechkiv, a Master student at SciencesPo, Paris.
The Summer School focused on reflecting on Europe's unique identity, rooting in Jesus's teachings, and delving into the complexities of EU accession. The program engaged participants in honing new skills in practice and delivering tangible outputs.
The lectures culminated in the opinionated writing and debate on "What makes Europe Europe?". This thought-provoking discussion highlighted the shared joy of celebrations, reminding participants of Europe as a shared tapestry of unique cultures and traditions, unified on the foundation of Jesus's love.
ECPYouth remains open to those driven by God's courage for a brighter tomorrow. The organisation offers a year-long Christian Changemakers training for young aspiring politicians and is an active voice in supporting its parliamentarians in their work.
The 2024 Summer School concluded with a renewed commitment to moving the EU forward with Christian faith and faith in joint cooperation. However, the identity of the person taking over the presidency of ECPYouth during the 2024 summer meeting remains undisclosed.
Looking back at its two-decade history, ECPYouth has grown from a small group to a robust movement. The organisation's Forward in Faith manifesto will outline the steps toward achieving this commitment. ECPYouth is committed to promoting Christian democratic policies and remains a significant player in shaping the future of Europe.
