Zoo passageway continues to be blocked following a vehicle collision in the Moabit area

In an unfortunate incident, a truck driver, whose identity remains undisclosed, was involved in an accident in the Berlin Tiergarten Tunnel on Monday evening. The driver, a 57-year-old man, was attempting to enter a parking garage at the main station with a clearance height of two meters, but became stuck.

The truck's cabin was destroyed in the accident, and the roof, walls, and some installed equipment in the tunnel also sustained damage. Despite efforts, no information about the condition of the truck driver after the accident has been disclosed.

The Traffic Information Center (VIZ) provided a report about the accident and the subsequent repairs. One lane in the tunnel heading towards Moabit remains closed due to the repairs, which may take some time to complete. The opposite lane heading towards Kreuzberg was reopened on Tuesday.

However, the duration of the repairs in the tunnel heading towards Moabit remains uncertain. The tunnel heading north, which was closed "for the time being", is not the lane heading towards Kreuzberg. The repairs in the tunnel heading towards Moabit did not affect the lane heading towards Kreuzberg.

It is unclear how the closed lane in the tunnel heading towards Moabit has impacted traffic in the area, as no specific information has been provided. The Traffic Information Center (VIZ) did not provide any new updates about the duration of the repairs or the condition of the truck driver.

A towing company was called to remove the truck from the Tiergarten Tunnel. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of responsible driving, especially when navigating through restricted areas. Further updates on the repairs and the condition of the truck driver are expected to be released in due course.
